FOIA Request to Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office regarding undocumented person’s arrest records on August 18, 2025.

On August 18, 2025, WC Georgia News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office. The request seeks access to specific inmate records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. The media organization has requested electronic copies of all inmate records for individuals held on ICE detainers from February 2, 2025, through July 2, 2025. Additionally, they have asked for a list of detainees who were turned over to ICE during this period and the charges issued against each individual.

The request emphasizes the importance of these records in fulfilling the professional responsibilities of media personnel in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. WC Georgia News has also requested a fee waiver as a media professional and member of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that aids in investigating governmental agencies.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
