The Harris County Board of Commissioners has proposed a property tax increase for the fiscal year 2025-26. The decision follows the adoption of the annual budget on June 17, 2025, after public sessions and hearings. The proposed millage rate is set at 9.13 mills, representing a 2.97% increase above the rollback rate of 8.867 mills.

In West Point, within Harris County, the millage rate will remain at 5.478 mills, which is a 2.58% increase above their rollback rate of 5.340 mills.

For homeowners with properties valued at $250,000, this proposal would result in an additional $26.30 in county property taxes.

Due to state law requirements for increases above rollback rates, three public hearings are scheduled to gather citizen feedback. These hearings will take place on August 5 and August 19, at specified times in Room 215 of the Harris County Courthouse in Hamilton, GA.
