The Harris County Board of Commissioners recently acknowledged the achievements of the Harris County Youth Track and Field team. The recognition took place during a meeting on June 3, 2025, following the team’s success in placing in the State Top 8 and making it to the podium this year.
Preston Sok made a notable impact by winning first place in the 12U Boys Shot Put event. His throw of 41.5 feet not only secured his victory but also set a new state record. “All these individuals have shown what can be achieved with dedication, hard work, and community support,” remarked officials at the meeting.
Several athletes were recognized for their performances: Jackson Gates earned second place in both the 12U 3200m and 800m events; Mason Comer placed fifth in the 10U 400m; Khloe Sewell achieved third place in the 8U 100m and fifth place in the 8U 200m; Zaylee Roundtree secured third place in the 10U 800m; Francis Trunck finished sixth in the 12U Javelin; Dakyron Melbert claimed seventh place in the 14U Long Jump.
Additionally, athletes who qualified and competed at State were also honored. These included Aiden Pineda, Theodore Grant, Drew Beeman, Adrienne Price, London Comer, Kevin Sewell, and Joseph Britton.
