In the 2024-25 school year, Jordan Vocational High School enrolled 487 African American students—an increase of 1% from the prior year—reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.

Total enrollment at Jordan Vocational High School reached 1,016 students for the 2024-25 term, with African American students representing 48% of all students, making them the school’s largest demographic group.

The school operates within the Muscogee County School District, headquartered in Columbus.

Of the 51 schools in Muscogee County School District, Carver High School had the highest number of African American students during the 2024-25 school year, enrolling 734 students.

The National Center for Education Statistics reports the racial and ethnic makeup of Georgia’s public school students was about 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism continues to be a significant concern in Georgia schools post-pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address attendance, GaDOE implemented a statewide strategy including a real-time attendance dashboard, an awareness campaign, and new support programs for districts with higher needs.

In 2025, new state legislation updated school attendance policies, prohibiting expulsions based solely on absences. The law also adds new reporting obligations and aligns with alternatives that offer other diploma opportunities for students.

By 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio averaged about 14:1, surpassing the national average of 15:1.
