There were 27 multiracial students at L. K. Moss Elementary School for the 2024-25 school year, a 22.7% increase over the prior year’s numbers, reports the Georgia Department of Education.

Total enrollment at L. K. Moss Elementary School reached 553 students in 2024-25. Multiracial students represented 5% of the student population, making them the smallest demographic group at the school.

L. K. Moss Elementary is part of the Marion County School District, with district offices based in Buena Vista.

Out of the two schools in the Marion County School District, L. K. Moss Elementary registered the largest number of multiracial students in 2024-25, with 27.

National Center for Education Statistics data illustrate that, among Georgia’s public school students, about 36.4% were Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism remains a significant concern in Georgia following the pandemic. In 2024, the Georgia Department of Education reported that 20.7% of students missed at least 10% of the school year. In response, GaDOE introduced a new statewide strategy that features a real-time attendance dashboard, a public information campaign, and targeted interventions for districts with higher needs to improve daily attendance.

Georgia lawmakers passed an updated attendance law in 2025 that prohibits expelling students solely for frequent absences. The change also includes new reporting requirements and is linked to initiatives that offer students different diploma pathways. Additional information is available here.

As of 2026, Georgia reported an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 14:1, which compares favorably to the national average of 15:1.
