South Georgia Technical College issued the following announcement on Jul. 20.
BRANDON GROSS NAMED SGTC HORTICULTURE INSTRUCTOR.
Brandon D. Gross of Andersonville was hired as the new full-time Horticulture Instructor for South Georgia Technical College effective immediately, announced South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. He will report to South Georgia Technical College Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers and Academic Dean David Finley
Gross earned an Associate of Applied Science in Environmental Horticulture from South Georgia Technical College in 2014 and then attended Fort Valley State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture Education. He served as the Collegiate FFA Salutatorian, the Collegiate FFA President and received the Agriculture Education recognition of Academic Achievement and the Ira Hicks Award at Fort Valley State.
He has been an Agriculture Educator for the Sumter County School System since June 2016. He has taught Agriculture Mechanics, Horticulture/Plant Science, Basic Agriculture and more. Prior to joining the Sumter County Schools, Gross worked as a gardener for Massee Lane in Fort Valley, and was a Maintenance Technician at South Georgia Technical College. He also served in the United States Coast Guard reserve.
In his capacity as the full-time Horticulture instructor for South Georgia Tech, Gross will be responsible for providing instruction to students in Horticulture classes in the classroom/lab environment while utilizing appropriate teaching techniques.
South Georgia Technical College is currently accepting students for Fall Semester. Classes begin August 18th. Registration will be held on July 20th and August 16th. Students can apply, attend orientation and register for classes in one day.
