County of Harris issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.
The Harris County Board of Commissioners opened its new 125 acre Ellerslie Park on Saturday, January 22, 2022. This new park, located in the populous southeastern part of the county in the Ellerslie area at the intersection of SR 315 and SR 85/U.S. 27 ALT, currently consists of over 1.5 miles of walking trails around two lakes, playground, lakeside pavilion, fishing dock, renovated lodge, public fishing in the 12 acre lake, and ample parking. The lodge with its wide veranda and the 20 x 40 pavilion overlooking the lake are perfect venues to host small events. For more information about the park and rental inquiries, contact the Harris County Parks & Recreation Department at 706-488-0000. Ellerslie Park is open daily dawn to dusk.
To determine what recreational amenities are wanted in the future, the Harris County Parks & Recreation Department is preparing a brief survey to take. The survey will be posted soon on the county’s website www.harriscountyga.gov and the Parks & Recreation website recreation.harriscountyga.gov
