Four CCSO Deputies were recognized at Annual Christmas Party for their extraordinary response efforts to the shooting at 16 East Bar and Grill.
Deputy K. Evans– The Medal of Valor
Corporal J. Masters – The Medal of Valor
Corporal G. Tatum – Meritorious Service Award
Corporal M. Telfair – Meritorious Service Award
On October 22, 2022, at approximately 10:30 PM, Crisp County Dispatch put out a call of an Active Shooter at 16 East Bar and Grill in Cordele, Georgia. Cordele Police Department and Crisp County Deputies arrived on the scene. Officers from Cordele Police Department began tending to the wounded. Deputy Evans and Corporal Masters entered the establishment. The shooter was still on the scene and had not been apprehended. Deputy Evans and Corporal Masters immediately placed the shooter into custody. Corporal Tatum immediately assisted in triaging the shooting victims With Crisp County Emergency Medical Services. Corporal Tatum helped Crisp County EMS load victims in the ambulances. Corporal Tatum began gathering information from the victims and statements from witnesses and helped maintain crime scene security. Corporal Telfair was off duty and at his residence that night. Upon hearing the call go out on his issued portable radio, he quickly got dressed into a uniform and went to the scene to assist. Corporal Telfair grabbed crime scene tape and started roping off the crime scene. Corporal Telfair began evacuating people from the crime scene to preserve the scene during the investigation.
These extraordinary actions are a testament to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office motto of “Service Before Self.”
Crisp County Sheriff’s Office also like to recognize and commend each Deputy (CCSO), Police Officer (CPD), Trooper (GSP Post 30), Game Warden (Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division Region 5), and Emergency Medical Service Providers (Crisp County EMS & Crisp Regional) for their response and treatment efforts.
