2022-23 School Year: What was most represented ethnicity in Macon County School District?

The majority of students in Macon County School District were African American in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Among the 1,026 students attending Macon County schools, 77% were African American. Hispanic students were the second most common ethnicity, making up 13% of Macon County student body.

In the previous school year, African American students were also the most common ethnicity in Macon County School District, representing 76.9% of the student body.

In the 2022-23 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county dropped 4.5% when compared to the previous year.

Macon County School District, the only school district in the county, has a main office in Oglethorpe.

As of 2024, Georgia has an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 15:1, which is better than the national average of 16:1. The state has its best student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1 in pre-kindergarten and middle school grades, while high school has an average ratio of 17:1.
