FOIA Request to Macon County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Georgia News have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Macon County Election Department. The request, sent on October 29, 2024, seeks information about the methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming elections.

Specifically, we have asked for a list of methods they are using to count votes. If the counting is done manually, we have requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that this information will greatly contribute towards ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process.

We await their response and will continue our efforts in disseminating crucial information related to governmental affairs and processes.
