FOIA Request Sent to Talbot County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Talbot County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Georgia News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. This request is aimed at gaining insight into the methods employed by the Talbot County Election Department for counting votes in the upcoming elections.

Specifically, we are seeking information about whether the ballots will be counted manually or using automated systems. If manual counting is to be used, we have requested an estimate of the number of personnel who will be engaged in this task on election night.

We believe that access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization, we are dedicated to disseminating important information to our readers and viewers, and hence have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Talbot County Election Department and will keep our audience updated with any developments regarding this matter.
