FOIA Request Sent to Chattahoochee County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Chattahoochee County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Georgia News have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Chattahoochee County Election Department. Our request pertains specifically to the methods being used by the department for counting votes in the upcoming election.

As we understand it, different counties may employ varying techniques for tallying votes, including manual counting or electronic systems. If manual counting is being utilized, we have also requested an estimate of the number of individuals who will be working on election night.

We believe that transparency in these processes is crucial for maintaining public trust and accountability in our democratic institutions. As a media organization, access to such public records allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.

We hope that this request will be met with understanding and cooperation from the Chattahoochee County Election Department as we continue our work in providing transparency and accountability to the public. We await their response and will share any updates as they become available.
