The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 4 that three people were arrested following a disturbance at Veterans State Park. Deputies responded to the park on April 26 after receiving reports of a large physical fight.

The incident is significant as it involved multiple individuals and resulted in arrests for disorderly conduct, highlighting concerns about public safety at local recreational areas.

According to the sheriff’s office, Department of Natural Resources officials who were present at the park and lake responded first. When deputies arrived, they observed that the crowd was dispersing. Law enforcement then began collecting information from witnesses and those involved in the altercation.

Investigators determined that a confrontation among several people escalated into a physical fight. During this incident, one person was reportedly struck in the face while another sustained minor injuries while trying to intervene. Authorities also learned that someone retrieved a firearm from a vehicle during the event; however, no threats were made with the weapon and it was not pointed at anyone.

Three individuals—Brandon Suggs, 19, of Leesburg; Nathaniel Tobias, 20, of Buford; and Caitlin Cowart, 25, of Leesburg—were taken into custody and transported to Crisp County Jail. All three have been charged with disorderly conduct.

Law enforcement has not reported any further injuries or ongoing threat related to this incident.
