Harris County appoints new manager with extensive administrative experience

The Harris County Board of Commissioners has named Clark Harrell as County Manager, a decision made during the Regular Session meeting on April 1, 2025. Harrell, who was previously chosen as the sole finalist for the position on March 3, 2025, is set to commence his duties with the Harris County government on April 14, 2025.

Harrell brings experience from his tenure as the County Administrator in Crisp County since 2019. Prior to this position, he held various roles including County Administrator in Mitchell County from 1992 to 2019. His background includes work in law enforcement, emergency communications, and emergency management.

The County Manager’s Office is tasked with managing the county's day-to-day operations on behalf of the Board of Commissioners. Its mission is to ensure responsible expenditure and accounting of tax dollars, while addressing the needs and concerns of Harris County citizens.
